In First Corinthians chapter 12, verse 27, Paul writes, “All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.” He is writing to members of the congregation of one the early Christian churches, and the same is true of all of us today.
It is sobering to think that each of us who has accepted Salvation through Christ is so close to him as to be literally a part of his body. This is why the early churches were so stringent about monitoring the behavior of their congregants and letting each other know when they felt like someone was straying from the path.
When I interacted with Jesus as the consciousness of the Sun while using a legal substance over a few years, he would surround me in his radiant golden light and pull me into his being so that there was no separation between us. I felt completely safe and protected and enveloped in a tranquility and depth of love that I had never felt before.
Those were very dramatic experiences, and they were very consistent instances that occurred over a period of about three years. My guess is that this is what we experience when we are freed from our bodies if we accept Salvation, and with it the purification of our souls by Jesus, when we pass out of this life.
When we think of ourselves as having a constant connection with Jesus it really makes sense that we are asked to continually improve our spiritual condition and draw ever closer to the righteousness that he and God possess. Just as we are affected by the mood or energy of people around us, our behavior and spiritual condition may affect Christ as well, and we want to make sure that we affect him in a positive way.
Jesus feels terrible pain at the loss of souls to the hell realms, and for those who have walked away from obedience to him and his spiritual principles and returned to a worldly path. The only thing we can do to help him in that regard is to share our testimony with other people so that they can come to knowledge of Salvation as well. We can also try to meditate on this verse from Paul throughout or day and try to remember that we are part of Christ’s body, and let this inspire us to behave in more loving and positive ways for his sake.
