“God is on my side”

In Psalm 56, verses 9 through 11, says, “This I know, God is on my side! I praise God for what he has promised; yes, I praise the Lord for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me?”

This verse is very uplifting to me today, I am very sick and am having to miss some days from work and it is really upsetting to me because I have just started a new job. I went in to the doctor for a flare up of carpal tunnel syndrome, something I haven’t had problems with in almost ten years, and ended up catching viral bronchitis.

It has been a long time since I have had a job where the attendance policy is based on occurrences and after a certain point you are terminated; I had forgotten what it is like to live with that hanging over my head, and it has caused me some anxiety the past few days.

But I can’t control what has happened, I can only have faith that God is going to heal me so that I can return to work and I won’t have to be out anymore. Everything happens for a reason, and I am getting used to the fact that since I came back to Christ and God after interacting with them while using a legal substance over a few years, things seem to be in a constant state of change.

God seems to always be challenging me to stretch and grow, and is always answering my prayers in the most unexpected ways. I know all that has happened this week is part of his plan, and that I only have to have faith that things will work out for the best in the end. I know that if I follow his direction and stay on the path I don’t have to worry about human standards; instead I need to keep going forward and search for his will in all things.
