“Doing the will of God”

In John chapter 4, verses 34 through 38, Jesus says, “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work. You know the saying, ‘Four months between planting and harvest’. But I say, wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe for harvest. The harvesters are paid good wages, and the fruit they harvest is people brought to eternal life. What joy awaits both the planter and harvester alike! You know the saying, ‘One plants and another harvests.’ And its true. I sent you to harvest where you didn’t plant; others had already done the work, and now you get to gather the harvest.”

Jesus utters these words in response to the disciples telling him that he needs to eat something, to which he replies, in verse 32, “I have a kind of food you know nothing about.” He then elaborates in the verses above about his reason for coming to earth, to spread the knowledge about the Salvation that he offers us through repentance and forgiveness of sin.

I interacted with Christ as the consciousness of the Sun, over several years while I was using a legal substance, and I felt the depth of his love for all of us. I finally understood that this love that Christ feels for us is what allowed him to incarnate here and face such intense suffering so that we can have our souls cleansed and purified by him if we will only submit to his spiritual authority and obey his commandment to love others as ourselves.

Part of loving other people as ourselves is to reflect the glory of God and Christ in our lives. Jesus makes it very clear in these verses that we need to share our testimony about the love and peace that being a follower of Christ brings into our lives, and to live in such a way that other people are drawn to Jesus through us, so that they can receive knowledge about the Salvation that Jesus offers to everyone.

I understood in my experiences with Christ that he is a healer, not only of physical infirmities as we are taught in the Bible, but of our souls as well. Christ showed me how he had forgiven sins of mine and purified my soul, by waving his golden hand over my soul and healing the wounds of sin that had been left there by my behavior.

I realized that Christ is a healer of the spirit as well as the body, and that he only wants to bring healing to all of us in the way that he healed my soul in this instance. I hope that everyone will accept the Salvation that Christ offers us by repenting of sin and asking forgiveness, so that we all can experience the peace of Christ and someday join him and God in our heavenly home.
