“For God so loved the world”

I am reading the chapter of John now and tonight I read one of the most famous verses in the New Testament, which is John 3:16. The translation I quoted in the title is from the King James version; I am reading from a Bible called “The Jesus centered Bible”, in which verses 16 and 17 of chapter three read like this, with Jesus saying, “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.”

This verse from John always brings me such comfort; sometimes I pray it over and over as I am falling asleep. I interacted with Christ and God while using a legal substance over a few years and I felt the intensity of their love for humanity. It was very clear to me that they intensely love every human being and want so badly for us to follow their teachings in the Bible so that we can be with them in heaven upon our passing.

I think many times about how painful it must have been not just for Christ, but for God himself to allow Christ to come here to earth. I interacted with Christ as the consciousness of the Sun, our star, and I found him to radiate pure unconditional love like I have never felt before in my life. I understood that it was this love that God and Christ both have that allowed them to be willing to subject themselves to such pain for our sakes. Christ boldly took on a fate of tremendous suffering, and God had to witness his child being so mistreated.

When I was in their presence I understood why it was that they did this. They simply seem almost made of love itself. They want so badly for all of us to follow in their path of spiritual purity, and to obey Christ’s commandment to love others as ourselves. Christ wanted so badly to give us the key to spiritual salvation that he came here to earth and faced down so much personal suffering in order to teach us about the Salvation he offers us through repentance and forgiveness of sin.

Jesus healed many people on earth while he was here but he can also heal our souls of the scars or wounds that sin leaves behind in them. He healed my soul of some sins of mine once by waving his hand across my soul and I saw the dark places disappear behind a ray of golden sunshine emanating from his hand. I understood at that moment the concept of Christian salvation and how Christ and God will purify our souls of our transgressions if we submit ourselves to them and allow them to guide us in our lives after we accept the Salvation that Christ offers us. I hope everyone will accept this precious gift that Christ was willing to suffer so very much in order to present to us.
