“Living water”

In John chapter 4, Jesus meets a woman at a well and asks her for a drink of water. She asked him why he was asking her for a drink and he replies, in verse 30, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.”

This is one of my favorite Bible verses. I used to dumpster dive quite a bit and once I found the prettiest pink water pitcher with this verse on it. I have loved this verse every since then even though I wasn’t familiar with it at the time, and was still living a secular life.

When the woman inquires further about the living water Jesus promises her, as opposed to the well water, he tells her, in verse 33, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”

This has been true in my life, that knowing Jesus is a well within me that gives me a sense of peace that I never had in my life before. When I interacted with Christ using a legal substance, he came to me as the consciousness of the Sun, and filled me with warmth, tranquility and unconditional love like I had never felt. He truly is a bottomless well of serenity, and I hope everyone will accept him into their hearts so that they can feel this well of deep and abiding love that he has to offer to all of us.
