“His glorious riches”

In Philippians chapter 4, verses 18 and 19, Paul writes to his congregation, “At the moment I have all I need–and more! I am generously supplied with the gifts you sent me with Epaphroditus. They are a sweet-smelling sacrifice that is acceptable and pleasing to God. And this same God who takes are of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.”

I love reading Paul’s letters because so many times I will be reading his discourses with parishioners and then I will find a beautiful verse hidden here or there in the letters. This is how this last verse struck me, where Paul tells us that all of our needs will be met from the riches of God’s Kingdom.

This is something to really take to heart, that God of course can provide for us all, and make sure that our needs are met. We have to accept the dictates of his plans in our lives, and go along with the changes that happen here and there in our physical lives, because this is only a fraction of time in the existence of our souls.

We have to trust God, because like Paul says, he will always provide for us. We may not always know the purpose of the twists and turns in our lives, but he does, and we know that he is watching over our souls and giving us the growth that we need for them. This is his purpose in every moment of our lives, and he and Christ have as their purpose to guide our souls to Salvation in the afterlife.
