“He freed me from all my fears”

In Psalm 34, verses 4 through 7, David writes, “I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me, He freed me from all my fears. Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces. In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened; he saved me from all my troubles. For the angel of the Lord is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him.”

I love these verses and I really needed to read them tonight. I especially like the second sentence in these verses where David says that those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy. I know that I experience God most closely when I am outdoors, I can really feel his presence in the natural world.

Every morning I go out to the back porch and look at the birds eating seed from our feeder and I am always amazed at the variety of colors that God uses to paint them; I always wonder what inspires him to paint one this way and one that way. It really eases my spirit to try to imagine what inspires him to do so.

David tells us that God saved him from all his troubles, and he will save us as well if we go to him in prayer like David talks about. We may not receive an answer right away, but eventually God will make his will known in our lives.
