In Philippians 2, verses 12 and 13, Paul writes, “Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire and power to do what pleases him.”
This is a great reminder from Paul, as usual, that we need to work hard to change our lives in ways that reflect the sacred nature of God and Christ. I didn’t understand this initially, after I came back to Christ after interacting with him as the consciousness of the Sun, our star, while using a legal substance over a few years.
I thought that I would just go to church and read the Bible and wear a cross and that would be my Christian journey. I had no idea that when I accepted Christ and God into my heart that they really did take up residence there, and that they were going to completely change my life.
At first I resisted many of the changes, and God gave me many fearful visions to get me to change and let go of some of my habits. I had quit using the legal substance but the visions kept coming, and it became clear to me that God and Christ were intent on transforming my life, just as Paul tells us must happen in many of his letters.
Though the changes are huge sometimes, I am slowly getting more willing to trust God and not resist as much as I have in the past. Progress is slow, but each situation seems to work out to my benefit, in ways that I could have never imagined. It becomes easier and easier to ‘let go and let God’, an expression that I learned in A.A. many years ago.
