“God blesses you”

In Luke chapter six, verses 20 through 23, Jesus tells us, “God blesses you who are poor, for the Kingdom of God is yours. God blesses you who are hungry now, for you will be satisfied. God blesses you who weep now, for in due time you will laugh. What blessings await you when people hate you and exclude you and mock you and curse you as evil because you follow the Son of Man. When that happens, be happy! Yes, leap for joy! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, their ancestors treated the ancient prophets the same way.”

These verses are known as the Beatitudes and they are very beautiful and inspiring. This translation reads slightly differently than the King James version that I grew up with, but it doesn’t lose any of its beauty or power.

These lines are a great reminder to us to keep our eyes focused on our Salvation through Christ, and that this physical world is a fleeting chapter in the life of our soul. Jesus wants us to remember that we just have to walk through our days doing his and God’s will and obeying his commandment to love others as ourselves and love God with all our hearts.

He wants us to accept his spiritual authority over our souls by repenting of our sins and asking forgiveness, so that he can cleanse and purify our souls of our transgressions. This message was so important to him that he and God agreed for him to come here and deliver it personally to us, even though he encountered great suffering to do so. I hope that everyone will accept this precious gift of salvation, that Christ endured so much to bring to us.
